Stars volunteer Connor Black of Mundelein High School set a new U.S. record for the 100 yard butterfly on Saturday, February 23 – 46. 71 seconds!  The time was almost a half second faster than the state-meet record he set during Friday’s preliminary (47.20 seconds).  (Read Saturday’s Chicago Tribune coverage by clicking here.) The senior swimmer started the preliminaries on Friday by setting the state meet record in the 50-yard freestyle, at 19.80 seconds. (Read Friday’s coverage by clicking here.)

Black’s record in the freestyle was previously held by Olympic gold medalist and Lake Forest grad Matt Grevers.  Way to go, Connor! We’re proud of you!
